What to expect on your journey with Fusion

Before treatment

If you’ve taken the first step by booking an initial appointment at Fusion Dentistry, you can rest assured that the experience will be very informal – it won’t feel like your usual visit to the dentist. We simply want to assess your dental situation; you don’t even have to sit in the dental chair if you don’t want to. We’ll listen to your concerns, chat about your hopes and expectations, and discuss how Fusion can help you to achieve your new smile.

The great thing about Fusion Dentistry is that your details won’t be sent away to an anonymous dental lab. We’ll give you a tour of both the Cardiff practice and our onsite lab, where your new teeth will be made. You’ll meet the technicians and have a chance to see how your new teeth will be made and understand all about the treatment and processes.

If you are comfortable enough, we may take photos of your smile, an x-ray and impressions of your teeth. This is so that we can advise and plan the most suitable treatment plan for your needs. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like – we want our patients to have a say in every aspect of their procedure, including selecting the shape and colour of their new teeth.

During treatment

For most of our treatment you can expect to be with us for a few hours, depending on your individual case. If you choose to opt for same-day treatment, your will need to allow a full day at our practice. If you are nervous about undergoing dental treatment, we offer dental sedation in-house with our consultant anaesthetist. Our dentist will talk to you during every step of the treatment process, and will allow time for your mouth to rest so that you feel comfortable throughout your procedure. After your treatment, you will be shown to a private recovery room to rest until you feel ready to go home.

After treatment

It is normal and expected for your mouth to feel sore in the days following surgery, but this is usually very manageable. As your anaesthetic wears off and the mouth begins to heal, you may feel a slight ache or discomfort for the first few days. This is completely normal, and can be treated with other over-the-counter painkillers.

If you’ve had Same Day Teeth, we will recommend you eat a soft diet for the first two weeks after your treatment – avoiding foods that require lots of chewing, such as crusty bread, apples and meat. This is simply to allow your mouth to heal and your implants to integrate. Implants require careful looking after, and we will send you home with fully explained instruction how to keep them clean.

Every Fusion patient receives 12 months of post-treatment care, including visits to the practice for progress checks, and hygiene therapy to ensure that your implants are healthy.

We always encourage you to speak to us about any concerns you have during any stage of your treatment, so that we can help put your mind at rest. Please feel free to talk to any of our team, any time, about any niggling concerns or worries.

Our relaxing, home-from-home setting will put you at ease, and with finance solutions available, we make it easy to spread the cost of your treatment. What are you waiting for?
